Each fern has its own growing seasons; some grow best in late autumn, some in spring, and some in mid-summer. However, spring is the peak time for many ferns to grow actively.

Mostly, it’s 20:10:20 NPK or 10:10:10 NPK ratio with half strength. Later, pour that liquid mixed water onto your plant’s soil. During their growing seasons, fertilize them every month when they are growing actively.

Make sure when you water the plants, all the excessive water fully drips from the drainage hole. Don’t let the water sit on the plant’s soil surface, it can cause chemical burns or salt burns to your fern plant.

Avoid Winter Feeding

Never fertilize your ferns in winter. Most of the ferns go dormant in the winter seasons. It means their growth remains slower or stops in winter so they go into a dormancy phase.

At that time they didn’t need much care and attention as their growth almost stopped. Thus, Avoid feeding your ferns at that time. Your extra care can kill your ferns so be careful about that. 

Don’t Over Fertilize 

Always remember less is more convenient for your ferns. That’s why try to feed your ferns with minimal requirements. Do overdose the feeding portion which can give your ferns salt burn into their soil.

Thus, your ferns will die gradually because of an overdose.
